Associate Architect - Full time (Promoted in Jan. 2022)
Schematic Design: Sketch new concept designs and meet with the ownership and tenants to finalize the design with rendering revisions and various presentation boards.
Design Development: Research local building codes and standards for compliance and contact city building inspectors to confirm. Coordinate with structural, MEP, and Civil engineers to finalize the design and draft construction documents. Contact tenants and product providers for building materials and accessories to ensure the finish schedule is accurate and feasible.
Construction Document: Work on scaled drawings and produce the whole construction document set. Always double-triple-check before submitting to cities for permits and going for bids. All the sections, details, plans, elevations, and notes correspond. I put significant effort and dedication into all the drawings and annotations. Produce high-quality construction documents for cities to review and contractors to follow.
Project Management: Use "Procore" for project management by shadowing the Principal Architect, James Van Hooser. Work on RFIs and submittals and monitor ongoing projects daily, including weekly meetings with ownership and contractors.
Post-Construction: Site visit with the Principal Architect, James Van Hooser. When the project is 99% done, assist James in recording the building details and writing a punch list for the final inspection. This invaluable experience, seeing what got built from my construction drawings, gave me an accurate understanding of building construction and materials.
Architectural Intern - Full time (Started in Nov. 2021)
Work on various jobs to get started on construction drawings by AutoCAD. Assisted in the preparation of studies and reports. Visualizing concept designs and renderings by using Rhino, V-ray, and Photoshop.
